Teaching About the Heart in the Himalayas: A lofty Pursuit

I am a cardiovascular physiologist and since 2000 I have been involved with Nepali doctors and international colleagues to develop and implement a medical school (Patan Academy of Health Sciences) in Kathmandu Nepal. It is unique in Nepal due to it’s focus on admitting & training Nepali doctors to practice in remote communities of Nepal. The first class graduates this year; and with the recent Earthquakes in April and May never before has there been more need for health care in the villages.
