From Australian Literature to the World
During my course work in my Master of Arts degree, I shied away from the venerable Prof. of English, William H New because everyone said it was impossible to get an A in his class. Finally I was running out of options, and took his class on Australian literature. It changed the course of my life. I ended up moving to Australia to undertake a PhD in comparative Canadian-Australian litersture; now after many years crossing the Pacific, my research centres on the the shared ocean between us.
