Observing Rick Hansen
I was doing 'The Circut' in War Memorial Gymnasium in the early '80's, and after running to the top of a flight of stairs, I heard a 'wisk, wisk wisk' sound. I peered around a cement block corner to see a man sitting in a stationary wheelchair, pushing with all his strength, and the concentration, sweat and determination on his face was unparalleled. His torso was flexed in massive muscle that threw off steam as he propelled his chair into another realm.
Rick was going around the world.
