Starting the Women's rowing crew
It started as a challenge, "You're too small to row and besides there is no women's crew" said my boyfriend who was on the men's crew. With help from the men's light weight crew, names of women who were interested were gathered on "club day". We met and decided to start. We met at the Vancouver Rowing Club, learning on "the barge". Peter was our first coach. Glen Battersby joined us as coach within a month of us starting the crew. It was a crew started by women for women.
