From UBC to a life at sea
After graduating from UBC with a BSc, Brian G Whitehouse became the oceanographer aboard coast guard ships sailing the Pacific Ocean. This lead to a PhD in oceanography, an Alexander von Humboldt postdoctoral fellowship in Germany, and an oceanographic development project in Jamaica, where he developed a keen interest in viewing the sea from space, using Earth-observing satellite sensors. In 2012, Dr. Whitehouse wrote his first book - A Sense of the Sea: our view of the sea and how we got it.
