Memories of Kindness

In the 1970s I hitchhiked to get to and from campus. One day Dean Walter Gage picked me up and took me home. Another time the same thing happened while I was waiting in line to be picked up. A car came along and the couple who picked me up was Dr. David Suziki’s parents. They also took me to my home.

Dean Gage asked where I was from and I replied I was from St. Vincent and the Grenadines. He was interested in learning more about the islands. When he dropped me off, he said: “God bless you, my dear.”

These acts of kindness have remained with me for the rest of my life.
