Becoming Canadian, and a Canadian diplomat

What can I say? UBC made me Canadian - when I arrived at UBC age 18 from the UK I was British, but by the time I graduated UBC had thoroughly Canadianised me. I never even meant to stay, but fell in love with UBC and Vancouver and BC and Canada and went on to become a Canadian diplomat and to represent Canada in nine different countries around the world, twice as Consul General and once as acting High Commissioner. And even after all those postings, Vancouver still feels like home....
