Hitchhiking
One of my fondest memories as a young student at UBC was lining up on University Boulevard to catch a ride to the gate or beyond. As cars stopped, the first person or group of people would pile in and everyone else in the line would shuffle forward. I lived off of fourth avenue and often was lucky enough to get dropped off within blocks of my place of residence. As a girl who had been taught to be wary of strangers, l was so amazed by this custom and so grateful for the generosity of others.
