The Life of an Asianist

Starting off in life with a BA in Asian Studies didn't seem so unusual to me in 1970, but apparently it was. It put me into a world that forever changed me, for the better, I hope. It led to a life living and working in Asia, and then in Canada with Asians and Asian Canadians. From a city with three Japanese restaurants, Vancouver has grown to one with sushi as common as lattes (another rarity in 1970). I hope I can claim that I have been a tiny part of that sea change.
